Modular Plug Wire Install

Installing wires into modular rack plugs can be extremely difficult.

The main issue is maneuverability. Just getting a single hand into some areas is damn near impossible, much less cutters, tweezers, or install tools.

There is a trick of using a "pull wire" from the front side of the plug. It's not 100% effective, but it at least gets the pin started in the right hole.

This was a hit/miss experience. We needed three new configuration (ground) wires on the back of the DFDAU. The video showed the only one that worked. The other two, we had the pin go into the back of the rack, but the pull wire fell off before the pin was seated.

We still had to fish an insertion tool or tweezers through that mess to push the pin into a "locked in" state.

Still though..... just getting the pin into the correct position is a huge help.

When a modification requires the rack to come out because there's just too many wire changes that need to be done.....

In this case, a ground strapping modification for the EGPWS call-out mode.
