Mark, do you have any idea on which part of aircraft radio navigation system is prone to failure, based on your experience?

Antennas and antenna wiring. Constant freezing/warm cycles tend to wear on both the antennas and wires that connect to them.

If an antenna gets any type of moisture contamination, the constant freezing (expansion) will allow even more moisture in over time. This can lead to external fracturing or severing of internal connections.

Co-ax connector wiring becomes brittle. Either the center conductor breaks off the pin or the shielding separates from the outer crimp.
