Semi guarded switch was created by dynamics
Would you explain the semi guarded switch and how it differs from other type of switch. Is the semi guarded switch necessarily a toggle switch?

My current airline has a vibe test box. When I get a chance I'll take a pic of that switch.

Would you agree that such switches should stay on specific contact once activated, and it is not necessary to keep holding it?

Most guarded switches I've dealt with lock into place. It all depends on the application.
767 Stab Trim test switches must be held to activate.

The red guard image switch cover shown above will put the switch in normal operating position when closed.
