MD-11 on short turn from MEM/IAH - IAH/DFW.

Inbound write-up and our action:

PDIS XXX 22-21 5004 21Mar17 IAH U CLOSE

Logpages:XXXXXXXX

ON APPROACH TO KIAH RWY 26L AT APPROXIMITELY
1500 AGL WITH AUTOPILOT DISENGAGED THE LSAS
LEFT INBOARD AND RIGHT OUTBOARD FAIL
ANNUNCIATORS ILLUMINATED IN ADDITION TO BOTH
LOWER YAW DAMPER A&B FAIL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED
UPON CONDUCTING GO AROUND DU'S 2 AND 4
REVERTED TO COMPASS ROSES AND AUTOPILOT
DISCONNECTED . AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES THE
LIGHTS EXTINGUISHED ONE BY ONE AND THE
AUTOPILOT WAS REGAINED.

DUE TO MULTIPLE LRU ELECTRICAL RELATED FAULTS
REMOVED AND REPLACED EPCU REF AMM 24-08-01-4. RTS
CHECKS NORMAL. EPCU/FCC CAT 3 INTERFACE TEST ON FCC'S
1 & 2 ARE NORMAL. A/C OK FOR SERVICE.

CFDS showed failures all over the place for the last flight. All three IRS's and DEU's, both FCC's, both Cabin Pressure Controllers, a Radio Alt, and a VHF Comm. Our reaction...... "power" problem, but not a fault one for the EPCU (Electrical Power Control Unit).

We had a EPCU in stock and even though nothing was recorded as it being failed...... we changed it and kicked-um out of town.

On the next flight:

What was perplexing about this was the fact that the #3 generator must of glitched coming into Houston and "nothing" was recorded as a fault. In the case of the arrival here, all the components listed above lost power which was long enough to cause a restart. It's actually a good thing this was on a MD-11 instead of a MD-10. Equipment on MD-11's, power up quickly. MD-10's can take over two minutes to come online.
